Have you ever been completely humbled by someone much stronger or smarter than yourself? I had the opportunity to play one-on-one basketball with a collegiate soccer player while I was in seminary. I was not a basketball player, but I thought that I was quick and that I could hang with him. No matter how fast I was, he was faster. On defense and offense, I was a hopeless mess. He mopped the floor with me. Needless to say, I did not play against him again. I wanted him on my team.
In our passage for Sunday, we will learn about people who openly rebel against the rule of Christ in their lives. Although Jesus has all power and authority, these people think that they can do without His direction. They are in a fight that they can NEVER win. Even if they ignore Him now, they will face His authority in the judgment.
My question is, “Why fight the rule of Christ over your life?” Jesus Christ has all power, all wisdom and perfect righteousness. He alone knows what is best for all humanity. He promises to give us what we need and when we need it. If He says no to something, it is for our good. Trust Him. Surrender to His leadership over your life. You will find true life and more abundant life.
